POSITION SUMMARY

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications

QUALIFICATIONS
BA (or equivalent experience)
Two years prior experience in development, marketing, special events, business or other relevant environment.
Advanced skills in using Microsoft Office programs.
Experience with Blackbaud Razor’s Edge, Adobe inDesign and Photoshop, and social networking/web 2.0 desirable.
Positive, energetic, and organized team-player who works well with others.
Strong interpersonal skills as well as good oral and written communications skills.
Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information.
Ability to handle multiple projects.

Summer School Preschool Spanish Teacher
June 22 to July 31, 2009, part-time or full-time. Co-teach in a program with approximately 24 four through six year old English speaking students. Collaborate with Head Teacher to structure summer program and to set up and maintain a learning environment that incorporates both Montessori activities and the latest educational thinking into a comprehensive and memorable summer experience. Plan, conduct and lead daily activities to include art, science, cooking, gardening, physical development and walking field trips twice a week. Incorporate Spanish language into daily routines, use creative instructional techniques including songs, games etc. at circle time to teach Spanish at beginner’s level. Share responsibilities for the full day program (including supervising nap time, yard play; clean up of yard and classroom).

Preschool & First Grade Spanish Teacher
August 24, 2009 through mid-June, 2010; approximate hours are 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Eight hours per week of direct Spanish language teaching and another 12 hours per week as Teaching Assistant in Montessori Preschool classrooms and Preschool Extended Day. The Preschool Spanish program seeks a Spanish teacher to collaborate with English-speaking Montessori preschool teachers to blend exposure to, and celebration of, Spanish seamlessly into the Montessori classroom experience. On four mornings, the Spanish teacher will have small groups of 3, 4 or 5 year olds engaging in activities designed to familiarize them with Spanish vocabulary and pronunciation. One morning, the Spanish teacher will have two small groups of 1st grade students. The Morning Extended Day and Teaching Assistant hours involve supervising mixed ages of students.

Qualifications sought
We seek a talented teacher fluent in Spanish and English with successful experience teaching Spanish to 3 to 6 year olds. Ideal candidates should be well-versed in age-appropriate and enjoyable, creative instructional techniques including games, songs, and Total Physical Response. Candidates must be either native speakers or completely fluent in Spanish. Candidates must have a minimum of 12 ECE (Early Childhood Education) units.

Representative Duties
Responsibilities include:

This work includes daily evaluation meetings and weekly participation in the Theory and Practice seminar.Communication – Maintain active and open communications with parents/guardians of the children and with the other members of the Children’s School staff and School of Education faculty. San Francisco Day School is seeking a Learning Resource Department Teacher in the First Grade. This individual will work under the general supervision of the Lower School Head and report directly to the LRD Director. The LRD Teacher is responsible for facilitating the learning of students with learning differences, which interfere with access or processing of the regular curriculum. The Lead teacher works in collaboration with grade level teams in the development of differentiated curriculum, effective instructional methods, and individualized educational plans. Responsibilities and Duties include:
The Learning Resource Teacher will design, teach and evaluate curricular units that include differentiated instruction for diverse learners. He/she will teach small groups within or outside of the classroom, and will coordinate grade screenings; administer and analyze student assessments; develop learning profiles and educational plans; as well as maintain the School First Grade LRD Database.
The successful candidate will communicate regularly with parents, attending Parent Teacher Conferences, weekly faculty meetings, class field trips, and faculty in-service days. The Teacher will be expected to assume responsibility for classroom set-up and classroom management structure, as well as lunch, playground, dismissal and arrival duties. It is expected that this individual will attend various school functions throughout the year, including parent potluck dinners, performing arts programs, field days and evening events.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a committed career in teaching, with a minimum of two years experience in a classroom, as a teacher, an intern or a student teacher. A teaching credential is preferred, including specific training and experience in multi-sensory, research-based instructional methods, relevant to the filed of learning disabilities.
